iSuppli eyes Qualcomm as leader in wireless semi market PDF Print E-mail
According to Francis Sideco, Senior Analyst, Wireless Communications iSuppli Corporation, Qualcomm continued to lead last year in the wireless semiconductor market.

Qualcomm’s 2008 revenue from wireless semiconductors was $6.5 billion, up from $5.6 billion in 2007.

But the bigger story according to the report is that the company expanded its market share in this segment over its nearest competitor, Texas Instruments (TI), garnering 21.7 percent of the market. While TI maintained its No.-2 position, it lost revenue in 2008 finishing the year with $3.8 billion, 12.8 percent of the market, down from $4.9 billion in 2007. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics, Broadcom and MediaTek made significant gains.

iSuppli has just released their Wireless Competitive Landscaping Tool (CLT)™ 2009. The report takes a snapshot of the wireless semiconductor landscape – from cellular handsets, to mobile communications, to infrastructure equipment, to WLAN products.
